LIMERICK RAN riot against Tipperary this afternoon with a thumping win over their Munster rivals.
However, it was a bitter-sweet result for the side as Peter Casey was stretchered off with a horror injury during the clash.

Boss John Kiely wished his star all the best during his post-match interview but admitted the injury was ‘significant’.
Kiely told The Sunday Game: “I don’t know the full extent of the injury but it is a significant injury there’s no two ways about that.
“We’re thinking of him now this evening.
“He’ll get the best of care. We’ll make sure he’s well looked after and we’ll give him every chance to make a comeback at some point in the future but yeah it is very, very disappointing.”
“Apart from winning or losing or anything like that, you know, and it doesn’t matter what team the players are on – nobody wants to see players getting seriously injured on the field of play.
“Peter has been there before with a serious injury and he’s had to make that recovery before.”
Casey was awarded Man of the Match for his performance before the injury but obviously couldn’t come out for the award.
His captain Declan Hannon accepted the accolade on Casey’s behalf and gave his best wishes to his injured teammate.
Hannon said: “Obviously I don’t know the severity of the injury but it didn’t look great.
“A game of hurling is a game of hurling but he’s obviously first and foremost in our thoughts.
“Peter was flying it obviously. Hopefully it’s not too bad, we’ll have to wait and see.”
It looked like a probable broken ankle for Casey after he went down while producing a wonderful finish to net Limerick’s second goal.
Medics immediately responded to the incident and were able to stretcher Casey off after he received a few minutes of treatment on the pitch.
Whatever the extent of the injury is, Casey’s absence is going to be a huge loss for Limerick going forward.
Aside from the injury, Kiely was ‘very pleased’ with the way his side put Tipperary to the sword at the Gaelic Grounds.
He said: “Very pleased with our performance today.
“It was nip and tuck for the first half but for the last third of it, we managed to get a bit ascendency.”
“We had played with a strong breeze in that first half so we knew we had a lot of work to do coming into that second half and we knew that at half-time.”
“Their threat off breaking ball was a big watch for us and we coped with it really well and we used that long ball then as a platform to attack then.”
“We were in control for most of that second half, and used the ball well.”
