ROY KEANE was taking no prisoners as usual after Theo Walcott claimed Jurgen Klopp had ‘scared’ him.

The former Arsenal winger was discussing Klopp’s pre-match ritual of standing on the halfway line and observing the opposition before Liverpool’s clash with Brighton.

Walcott admitted that Klopp had intimidated him during his playing days and he made eye contact with the Liverpool boss during one of his stare-offs.

Appearing on Sky Sports, Walcott said: “I always used to remember as a player, you’d be warming up and in your routine and suddenly you’d just get eye contact with Jurgen Klopp.

“It’s like fire looking into your eyes, it’s so intimidating.

“He caught me once so I’m sure he would’ve caught many players. I’m sure there’s a reason behind it as well, but he definitely scared me.”

Keane was straight in with his trademark humour as he replied: “You would’ve been scared of the mascot though, wouldn’t you?”

This brought a fair bit of laughter from Walcott along with Micah Richards and Dave Jones.

Keane was full of jokes earlier this week as well as he took aim at his old foe Alan Shearer– who he famously never got on well with.

The Corkman’s second or third most infamous red card came when the red mist descended in a St James’ Park encounter where he tried to punch the Premier League’s all-time top scorer.

So it was no great surprise when Keane seized upon a chance in this week’s Stick to Football, brought to you by Sky Bet, to aim a punchline at his old foe.

Gary Neville asked guest Les Ferdinand: “You’re probably one of the best-placed people to answer this.

“It’s a bit of a pub question but Alan Shearer versus Harry Kane.

“You played with Shearer and worked with Harry Kane as a coach, if you’ve got to pick one…who’s it going to be?”

While the former QPR target man hesitated, Keane chimed in with a mischievous grin: “It’s gotta be Kane doesn’t it?!”

The well-timed dig prompted uproarious laughter from Neville, Ferdinand, Jill Scott and Ian Wright – with the latter telling his pal: “You’re out of order you.”

For the record Ferdinand eventually settled on the pre-eminent English number nine of the 1990s.

He stated: “I would go with Shearer at the moment because I played with him. I worked with Harry but I’d probably still go with Alan.”
